Note: you need a data plan from your provider to access the Internet
Click on Download to start downloading the application.
- Before the download you may get a message like "application is not from a
trusted supplier" or "not a signed application. Continue anyway?". This is a security disclaimer from the phone manufacturer and appears for almost
all third-party applications, including from major editors like Google Gmail mobile
- so you can safely click on Yes.
- If you get a message like "Version xx already installed. Replace?" click Yes.

Create a Personal or Business account
You can create an Upvise account directly from your device by entering an email and password of your choice.
You can sign up for a Personal and/or a Business account. The Personal account is free and includes these applications.
The Business account is a premium service and includes these applications.
If you have created both a Personal and a Business account, you can switch easily from one to the other from the Settings->My Account menu
Sign in with Pairing code
The Sign In screen asks for a Pairing code, which you can find in the Settings menu in your web account at http://www.upvise.com/useraccount.
The Pairing code is a 6-digit code that identifies your user account and is used to pair your mobile with your account.
When you create an account on the upvise.com website, it saves you the trouble of having to key in a full email and password on your phone to login.
You can generate a new Pairing code at any time from your account. It has a temporary validity (1 hour).
Once you have paired your phone, the Sign In screen no longer appears when you start the application and you are automatically signed in. You can sign out from the Settings->My account menu.
After you click on Sign In, the Home screen is displayed.

2. Quick Tips
| Basic navigation: |
Use up and down arrow keys to select items in a list or scroll text.
Use the left arrow key or the Back menu button to go back to the previous page.
Use the center button or right arrow to navigate to the selected item in the list.
|
| Filter any list: |
Filter any list by typing the first letters of a word on the numeric keypad of your mobile or using the keyboard on Windows Mobile and on Blackberry.
This is useful to quickly lookup a contact, search a note or even to launch your apps.
|
| Offline mode: |
By default, Upvise connects to your online account to get fresh data automatically. When there's no network coverage,
like in a plane or in the subway, or if you don't want Upvise to connect, you can change this setting to stay offline all the time. Select Settings > Connection Mode > Offline.
You can still access all the data that you have already downloaded, as well as post new data. The latter will be uploaded to your web account when you are back in Online mode.
When you're in Offline mode, the color of the title bar changes to black. In Online mode, the title bar is grey.
|
| Refresh shortcut *: |
By default, Upvise uses a smart cache mechanism to ensure fast access to your data.
You can still force the refresh of the current page by pressing the * (star) key on your phone or with the Refresh menu item on Windows Mobile or Blackberry.
This is useful when you have just entered some data in your web account and want to download it immediately to your phone.
|
| Goto Home shortcut #: |
Go back to the Home screen of Upvise from any screen by pressing the # (hash) key.
|
| Next Article: |
Use the right arrow key to jump to the next article e.g. in RSS News or Wikipedia.
A small white right arrow in the bottom bar indicates when this function is available in any app.
This is faster then clicking Back and selecting the next article in the list.
|
| Edit a page: |
When you edit a page, you can add the following basic formatting:
- Enter a line break with your keyboard's Enter key
- Enclose text in two simple quotes to bold it: ''this is bold''
- A star * at the beginning of a line followed by a blank space is a bulleted list:
* this is a list item
|
| Text size |
You can change the font size of the list and the text in Upvise in Settings > Display > Text Size. The change applies to all
applications and is saved even after you exit and return to Upvise.
|
| Quick access to Upvise: |
To start Upvise easily and quickly on your phone, you can add a shortcut to the app from the Home screen of your phone (available on most phones).
